Nurturing Your Feminine

Getting to know the feminine and masculine within ourselves is incredibly important for our health and balance. There was a time I thought that I was strongest in a more masculine energy, trying to do it all myself, refusing peoples help, carrying the huge load of groceries and hurting my back because well: ‘I’m fine, I’m capable’.

After much counselling, self-exploration, tantric classes, and time purely observing my behaviours, I feel I can now come into a harmonious balance on my own as I know the signs when more often than not my masculine starts dominating again (ah the joys of running a business!).

So today I wish to focus on getting in touch with our feminine side.  To me, the feminine is soft, sensual, creative, deep, nourishing, caring, loving, gentle, highly intuitive, and incredibly in tune with nature, loves to be supported and have space held so that she can be herself, vulnerable, open and feel safe.

I’m no expert, and only speak from my experience through personal exploration and therapy, however I felt I am able to share a few things that I love to do to nurture my feminine and also guide you towards amazing practitioners and people I know that can further help you get in touch with your feminine and also balance both masculine and feminine.

To nurture my feminine:

I love to dance to music that feels sensual and has depth to it.

I take a long hot bath with candles.

I give myself warm almond oil massages with essential oils such as Ylang Ylang, Jasmine, Geranium, and Rose.

Self-exploration in front of the mirror, in the shower, or in the bathroom while thinking positive thoughts about my body is also a beautiful way of developing body acceptance, confidence, and connection to self.

Buying myself beautiful lingerie makes me feel sensual and I find it fun and playful to wear – I wear it for myself and it is a highly pleasurable experience.

I take naps, I read books, I enjoy a piece of cake or some chocolate and really savour each mouthful.

I paint, draw, spend time in nature and the sunshine connecting to the earth.

If there are some nurturing activities here that do not resonate, start to explore your own. I know for some women, wearing lingerie may not be your thing, perhaps you prefer no bra or a different creative activity. We all have different needs and yearnings, so it is important to discover what your unique ones are. Always remember, that you are doing these things to nurture YOU, not to impress or win the attention of anyone outside of yourself. This is purely to fill you up and nourish within.

I feel that it is important to get to know both your masculine and feminine energies:

What do they look like?  How do they sound?  How do they move?  Do they have a special name? How do they feel? How do they interact with one another?

Begin to explore these questions, sink into your heart space to discover more. Do not be worried if your picture of them isn’t what you would like it to be. This is only the beginning of creating and nurturing them into the best versions for you and your wellbeing.

When your masculine and feminine are in harmony and balance, you feel centred, strong, and standing in your power and it also has a phenomenally positive effect on your relationships. They dance together, support and lift each other harmoniously inside of us.

If you feel like you need support to start the journey toward balancing your masculine and feminine I can help you through my Reiki and Sound Healing as well as mentoring sessions and Australian Bush Flower Essence Therapy.
